SOAP has been providing live comedy, drama and musical productions in the Oliver and Osoyoos area since 1971. Although our registered name says "amateur" and we are comprised of community volunteers working for the love of theatre, we take great pride in the high quality of our productions. Ways to get involved:
Our BoardCarrie Shogan - Vice President
Carrie joined SOAP two years ago, jumping into acting with both feet, in the play KNICKERS, where she shook her booty all over the stage in a thong. Her next foray onstage won her the Best Supporting Actor in a Female Role award at the 2023 OZone Festival, with her funny and poignant portrayal of 100 year old Lilian in Seven Stories. Directing The Deception of Kathryn Vask has afforded her the opportunity to express herself creatively in exciting new ways, and it has been a pleasure and an honour to work with such a talented collection of people. In her role as Vice President, Carrie is most excited to energize production policy and create procedural guidelines for those who wish to take on the roles of director and/or producer in future productions, and ultimately, to find new and exciting ways for SOAP to explore the many facets of humanity by creating unique and memorable theatre-going experiences. “At the end of the day, the reality is we’re all losers, and we’re all uncoordinated. We’re the worst of all of the animals on earth, and there’s something quite endearing about that.” - Taika Waititi |
